Engagement Rate

How actively people interact with your content — likes, comments, shares, clicks — versus how many saw it.

Engagement rate measures how much your audience actually reacts to what you post, rather than just how many people saw it. It adds up interactions — likes, comments, shares, saves, clicks — and compares them to your reach or follower count, giving you a percentage. A post seen by 1,000 people that earns 50 interactions has a 5% engagement rate.

It's a better signal of whether content resonates than raw view counts, because it shows people cared enough to do something. Different platforms and post types run at different levels, so the useful comparison is against your own history: which topics, formats, and times spark the most response, so you can do more of what works.

Why it matters

Engagement is an early read on whether your content is connecting with the right people, long before it shows up as followers or sales.
