Vector Database
A specialized store for AI 'meaning' data that instantly finds the most relevant content for a question.
When you want an AI to answer from your own material, your policies, product catalog, or past emails, that material gets stored in a vector database. It holds the meaning-based fingerprints (embeddings) of everything you gave it and can find the closest matches to any question in a fraction of a second. It is the memory that lets an AI look things up in your business instead of guessing.
Think of it as a filing cabinet organized by meaning rather than by folder. An ordinary database finds exact matches like "show me order #4102." A vector database finds the closest ideas, like "what is our policy on damaged goods," even when the words in your documents do not line up with how the question was asked.
Why it matters
It is the memory that lets an AI answer reliably from your own business knowledge instead of guessing or making something up.
