Customer Segmentation
Splitting your customers into smaller groups that share something in common, so you can market to each one differently.
Customer segmentation means dividing your audience into groups that look or behave alike — by what they bought, how much they spend, where they live, how often they visit, or what stage they're at. Instead of treating everyone as one crowd, you sort them into a few meaningful buckets, like "first-time buyers," "loyal regulars," or "haven't ordered in six months."
Once people are grouped, you can tailor the message, offer, and timing to each. A win-back discount goes to the lapsed group; an upsell goes to your regulars. Segments can be simple (two or three groups) or detailed, and they're the foundation for personalized email, ads, and product decisions.
Why it matters
Talking to the right group with the right message beats one-size-fits-all, so segmentation lifts response and revenue without you spending more to reach people.
