Email subscribers, segments and tags
See everyone who can receive your emails, group them with tags and segments, and send each campaign to exactly the right people.
Customers → Email subscribers opens your email list. Search it, filter by tag, status or segment, and open anyone to edit their details, tags and sequences. People who unsubscribed, bounced or complained stay on the list but are never mailed.
Tags are labels you put on subscribers. Segments are saved filters, such as “tagged customer and active in the last 30 days”, that update by themselves. Both sit in the bar at the top of the email pages.
Why it helps
- Unsubscribes, bounces and spam complaints are never mailed, whatever tag or segment they’re in.
- Segments keep themselves current, so “engaged customers” means whoever qualifies today.
- Adding a tag can start a sequence or automation you’ve set up, so the right people get the right follow-up.
How to use it
- Open Customers → Email subscribers. Choose Email subscribers under Customers. Search by email, name or company, or filter by tag, status or segment.
- Add or import people. Press Add subscriber for one person, or Import CSV for a file. The import asks Did these people agree to get email from you? and records your answer.
- Tag in bulk. Tick people, then choose Add tag, Remove tag or Enroll in sequence from the bar that appears.
- Create tags. Open Tags and press New tag to add a name, a description and a colour. Renaming a tag renames it on everyone who has it.
- Build a segment. Open Segments, press New segment and add conditions, matching All conditions or Any condition. Who matches shows a live count as you go.
- Send to it. Press Create campaign for this segment to start a campaign for just that group. It goes out only after you approve it.
Make the most of it
- Open a subscriber to see their recent email activity and any sequences they’re in.
- A segment on Days since last activity finds people going quiet. Then ask Nova to win them back.
- Export CSV exports by tag and segment; the search box and status filter aren’t applied to it.
- Leads and most customers live in your CRM only. Once someone says yes, the owner can press Add to email list on their CRM profile.

Questions
How is this different from People?
People is your CRM: everyone you know, including leads who never agreed to email. Email subscribers is the list your campaigns and sequences can reach.
Can I re-add someone who unsubscribed?
No. Unsubscribed, bounced and complained addresses stay off, and an import can’t bring them back.
Does adding a subscriber send them anything?
Not by itself. But adding someone can start an automation or sequence that begins on a new contact, so only add people who asked to hear from you.
