Stripe
Let Penny read your Stripe balance, payments, refunds and subscriptions, so money questions get real answers. Nothing can be charged.
Connecting Stripe lets Penny, your finance Expert, read your account live: your balance in each currency, the last 30 days of gross, fees and net, failed charges, refunds, an estimate of monthly recurring revenue from active subscriptions, and recent payouts.
It is read-only on purpose. No Expert can charge, refund or move money in Stripe, whatever a brief says. You connect by pasting a Stripe API key, and Penny only ever sees your own account.
Why it helps
- You get a plain-words read on what you actually made after fees, without exporting anything.
- Failed charges and refunds get spotted while there is still time to act on them.
- Experts can read Stripe but never charge, refund or pay out, so a brief can't move your money.
How to use it
- Create a key in Stripe. In your Stripe dashboard's API keys page, create a restricted key with read-only access. Your secret key also works.
- Connect Stripe. Open Settings → Connected apps, find Stripe under For your business and press Connect. Paste the key in the tab that opens.
- Ask Penny. Brief Penny, for example “what did I actually make this month?”. She reads Stripe live for the answer.
- Disconnect from Stripe's side. Delete or roll the key in your Stripe dashboard. Access stops straight away.
Make the most of it
- A restricted read-only key is all Penny needs, and it can't move money anywhere, here or elsewhere.
- Penny's standard read covers the last 30 days, so frame quick questions around that window.
- Make it a habit: a Monday read on your money is a one-line brief. See weekly numbers.

Questions
Can an Expert refund a customer or charge a card?
No. Stripe is read-only here. There is no action in Stripe any Expert can take, whatever a brief asks.
Which key should I use?
A restricted key with read-only permissions is the safest choice. Your full secret key also works.
How do I disconnect it?
Delete or roll the key in Stripe, which ends access at once. The row in Connected apps has no Disconnect button of its own.
