Plans, runs and using your own AI key
How the free plan, hours, runs and the paid plan work, and how to run your Experts on your own Anthropic key with no per-run charge from us.
You start on the free plan: no card, every Expert, and your team works whenever you brief it. Briefing and chat are free. Only delivered work uses hours, a measure of work rather than clock time: a typical deliverable is about one hour.
Your first few runs are on us. After that, connect your own Anthropic key and every Expert runs on your Anthropic account, with no per-run charge from us. The paid plan, $997 a year, adds the work your team does without being asked.
Why it helps
- You can try the whole team on real work before paying anything.
- On your own key, you pay your AI provider directly for what your Experts use, with no per-hour cap from us.
- On the paid plan, the Monday report, the morning brief and the brand watch happen without you remembering to ask.
How to use it
- Check your plan and hours. Open Settings → Plan & billing to see your plan, today's runs and the hours left. Monthly hours come back at the start of each month.
- Connect your own Anthropic key. Open Settings → Connected apps, find Run on your own keys and choose Connect Anthropic (Claude). Paste your key; it is checked live, then stored encrypted.
- Add an OpenAI key for voice. Optional: in the same section, connect OpenAI so talking to your Experts runs on your own account. Voice works on ours too.
- Top up if you run low. Choose Top up to buy more hours. Hours you buy never expire and carry past every monthly reset.
- Upgrade or manage the plan. Choose Get your AI team to see the paid plan. Once you subscribe, Manage opens your billing, where you can change or cancel.
Make the most of it
- With your own key connected, your Experts' thinking and writing uses none of your hours. Hours then only cover extras that run on our accounts, such as generated images and video.
- You can also connect your own Google Gemini and OpenRouter keys under Run on your own keys, so generated images and video bill to your accounts too.
- Runs per day is a safety cap, not your budget. It stops a runaway burst and resets each day.
- One account covers one business. A second business needs its own account.

Questions
What happens when I run out?
Your Experts stop starting new jobs and tell you why. Nothing is deleted and nothing is charged automatically. Connect your key, top up, or wait for your monthly hours to come back.
What does the paid plan add?
Standing orders, so your Experts work on a schedule and react when your numbers move; Aria's morning brief; Herald's daily brand watch; and up to 5 teammates. Work you start yourself stays on the free plan.
Who can see billing?
Only the account owner. Teammates don't see Plan & billing, and a business set up by an agency is billed by that agency.
Can I cancel?
Yes, from Manage in Plan & billing. It takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for.
